This book is a very old personal project, jealously guarded by that part of the girl I never lost and who still loves dolls.   A girl always  expressing a desire to endorse, customize and, in some way, give them life.

I started to dress up my ladies more than 25 years ago, by which was intended

to  be a costume  history  collection, while going  through  an advanced study program in Fashion and Design. Finally, many years later, it became  the fruit

of my three passions: History, Psychology and Arts.

I recovered the project last year, and this time, it was by the need to tell a story which  had already been told  through time, but this  collection unites for the

first time.

All of them are women who  inspired me for  years, with whom I have always

felt that strange   connection  which sometimes  joins you  with other human beings without actual contact.

They  also  represented powerful  archetypes, many of  them  in times  where

some emotional and behavioral patterns were pursued and punished, directly

in the more distant past and in very subtle ways in recent decades.

On  the journey  through their  lives and experiences,  feelings, emotions  and courage, I recognized all them in my own life in some sense.

This work is  both a time travel and a journey towards oneself. Through their lives, I could explore mine, put it in order,  and give  name and shape to some things for the very first time.

My ladies  are an idealized  representation, by me,  the way I see and feel them. Their  stories are  so interesting  and, at the same  time, so  common  to many

other women  throughout History.

I hope they inspire the reader as much as they inspired me.
